If you were disappointed that the Facebook Slingshot app that was announced last week was only going to be available in the U.S., you will be happy to know that Facebook has lifted the exclusivity of the app and has made it available internationally. What brought about the change of heart? As people behind Slingshot say:
“Since we launched last week, we’ve heard from lots of people around the world who are excited to give Slingshot a try. Starting today, we’re expanding our initial launch and making Slingshot available internationally.”
If you’re wondering what the Slingshot app actually does, think Snapchat, and add Facebook flair and branding. If that doesn’t narrow it down enough, Slingshot looks to be capitalizing on the growing social media craze that is sending around photos (or videos) to your contacts that can only be viewed for a preset amount of time, after which, the media is deleted forever. It’s stereotypically known for enabling people to send lewd photos to each other, however it has grown in prominence simply by affording some level of privacy. And now you will be able to do just that with your Facebook friends.
