This has to be one of the more unique designs I have seen lately in an Android device. As you can tell in the images, the device has T-Mobile branding and a name plate labeled ‘LG DoublePlay’. Just looking at the device you can easily tell that it is going to be a low-end device. It looks inexpensive and might be one of those “pre-paid” devices only. It offers a 320X480 HVGA main display with a smaller secondary screen. The split keyboard is a fairly interesting concept and reminds me of an old Nokia device. There is a 5MP camera on the rear along with a single LED flash. It doesn’t appear to have a front facing camera at all. There is the standard, which is soon to change, four soft keys at the bottom for you typical navigation. PocketNow is also reporting this device to be running Gingerbread, but the icons status bar don’t look right to me.
I can’t really imagine something like this taking hold except in a very limited market. I have a feeling the icons on the secondary screen are most likely stuck there. We can’t rally tell if that second screen is going to serve much of purpose. It would be nice to be able to type a text in that screen while watching a movie on the other one though, but I doubt that is how this is set up.
