New Motorola RAZR i gets announced, first Intel powered Motorola Android device at 2.0GHz

We have all seen the Motorola RAZR M, RAZR HD and RAZR MAXX HD…. Where the heck was the RAZR i during all that press? That is easily explained, the event was with Verizon, and the RAZR i isn’t headed their way. Yesterday though, Motorola had another event in London where they announced the new RAZR i.

The RAZR i is the first Motorola device to pack in the new Intel 2.0GHz Atom Z2460 processor. That should prove to be extremely interesting. A friend of mine that works at Intel says the latest chip is absolutely amazing and will make a world of difference in devices. He is an iPhone fan, but will gladly switch to Android when he can get an Intel chipped device. Among other things, the RAZR i also features a 4.3-inch display at 960 x 540, an 8MP camera, NFC and a 2,000 mAh battery. It currently sports ICS as the device OS, but is on the list for a Jelly Bean update in the future. The screen goes right to the edge and looks identical to the RAZR M. After checking specs, it would seem the main difference between the RAZR M and RAZR i is just the processor.

Motorola released a few videos of the for the device, including the following commercial for the UK.

We have to admit, it does look pretty good from what we get to see. Of course nothing beats a side-by-side with a current device. Don’t get your hopes up for a U.S. release anytime soon though. The RAZR i is scheduled to launch in United Kingdom, France, Germany, Mexico, Argentina, and Brazil sometime in October. Price leaks suggest a sticker of £342.00 including VAT. For us silly Americans that translates into approximately $550.

Want to see a little more? The second video released is below. Taking aim at the edge-to-edge screen and the speed of the Intel chip.

Still, an interesting device and one we would like to compare with the RAZR M and a few other Android devices.
