Next version of Android apparently confirmed as Android 5.0 Lollipop by Insider

Android 5.0 LollipopOne of the things that is expected to be shown at Google I/O 2014 in just a few hours is a preview of the next version of Android. While we suspect that Google has been subtly hinting that the version number will be a nice round 5.0, we don’t quite know what the name of Android 5.0 is going to be despite the fact we know it will start with the letter “L”. However, just hours before the keynote is to be delivered at I/O, Bulgarian tech insider Nixanbal has said that it has it on good authority that the next version of Android is going to be called Android 5.0 Lollipop.

There’s not any additional information about the actual software besides the actual name, however we are expecting Google to be tweaking the Android interface slightly, if only of the core Google apps. Rumour has it that Sundar Pichai, head of Android, will be giving a preview of Android 5.0 as part of his keynote delivery, and while it doesn’t appear ready for mass consumption, should give us a pretty good idea of what to expect in the near future. Be sure to tune into the livestream which you can find here.

What do you think about the alleged name of the next version of Android, Android 5.0 Lollipop? What are you most excited to see at Google I/O? Let us know in the comments below.
