A few weeks ago, Google announced that the Nexus 4 would be seeing a nice $100 price drop, and shortly after that, the 8GB Nexus 4 was sold out on Google Play in the States. It was reported that Google would not be restocking the latest Google phone on the U.S. Google Play Store, which smelt a lot like a clearance sale to make way for perhaps a new Google-branded phone, specifically the Nexus 5. Well, today the scent is only stronger as the 16GB version of the Nexus 4 has now also been sold out on the Google Play Store and according to The Verge‘s sources, the 16GB version won’t be seeing a restock ever again.
Both versions of the phones are of course still available from various Play Stores around the world, but this is the strongest evidence yet that Google is readying itself to launch the Nexus 5, and from the way the leaks are increasing in number and suspiciousness, we could be seeing the Nexus 5 replacing the Nexus 4 very soon.
Anybody disappointed they missed out on the reduced Nexus 4 price? Let us know if you missed out, or if you’re planning to get the Nexus 4’s successor, the Nexus 5.
