Nexus 5 production has stopped, but it will still be available through 2015

Nexus 5 production has stoppedWhen the Nexus 6 was announced a few months ago, we were pleasantly surprised to see that the Nexus 5 wasn’t removed from the Google Play Store, extending its stay just a little bit longer. While it may have staved off death for now, it seems the end is in sight for the Nexus 5 after Google basically confirmed that Nexus 5 production has stopped. However, note that while production has stopped, there is still quite a bit of inventory to get through, and Google affirms that there will be enough stock to continue selling the Nexus 5 via the Google Play Store and “select retailers”.

This news follows the disappearance of the white and red models of the Nexus 5, which looked to indicate the end for last year’s best value device. And while that wasn’t one hundred percent correct, it looks like the Nexus 5 is on its final lap now. Even if inventory of Nexus 5’s is as big as Google suggests, if you’re on the fence about the getting one, you should seriously consider getting on before all its reserves dry up. And you should, seeing as with a Snapdragon 800, 2GB RAM and a 5-inch 1080p display, the Nexus 5 is still one of the best value handsets on the market, probably second only to the OnePlus One, and for now, slightly more available.
