NFL, Verizon sign multi-year extension for NFL Mobile

Game highlights, news and full access to football games on CBS and Fox are only a few of the features included in the NFL and Verizon’s multi-year agreement, signed today. The NFL and Verizon released NFL Mobile on Verizon’s 3G network back in 2010.

For the upcoming 2013 season, the app will include a slew of new features. Users will be able to access the latest news, stats, exclusive game highlights and on-demand video from the NFL Network and NFL Films.

Fans will also be able to access fantasy, customizable NFL alerts, ringtones and graphics within the NFL network.

Prior to the deal, fans were able to stream games on the NFL Network, NBC and ESPN. But the new deal will bring in several other games from CBS and Fox networks.

“Beginning with the 2014 season, NFL Mobile from Verizon will expand to include access to live CBS and Fox Sunday afternoon games within their home markets, as well as all postseason playoff games, including the Super Bowl,” the NFL said in a statement.

Verizon FiOS and Cablevision customers can watch live games on their Android tablets. A full list of compatible devices can found be on the Verizon website.
