Nokia’s comeback in the smartphone world was being expected by many. Everyone was pretty sure that it would enter the smartphone market with Android smartphones. The HMD Global Oy, the company that has exclusive rights to Nokia’s brand license, has now officially announced the Nokia 6, limited for the Chinese market at the moment. The Nokia 6 features an octa-core Snapdragon 430 SoC, 4GB of RAM, a fingerprint sensor, and stereo speakers.

The Nokia 6 sports a 5.5-inch IPS LCD (1920 x 1080p) display that has 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top of it. Under the hood, it features the Snapdragon 430 processor with an octa-core CPU and Adreno 505 GPU. The smartphone has 4GB of RAM, 64GB internal storage, and a microSD card slot (up to 128GB). It runs on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. There is a fingerprint sensor embedded into its front-facing home button.
The Nokia 6 features a 16-megapixel rear-facing camera with dual-tone LED flash. It also has f/2.0 aperture, phase-detection autofocus, and a capability of 1080p video recording. The front-facing camera has a resolution of 8 megapixels, f/2.0 aperture, and 84-degree wide-angle lens. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, USB-Type C port, and a 3.5mm audio jack. The smartphone packs in a 3,000mAh battery. The phone also features dual stereo speakers, dual smart amplifiers, and support for Dolby Atmos audio.
Nokia 6: Pricing & Availability
The Nokia 6 is priced for CNY 1,699 (equivalent to $245) in China, and it will be sold via JD.com sometime during the first half of 2017. The smartphone’s global availability has not been confirmed yet, but it might be revealed in coming weeks. Moreover, HMD is expected to release at least six more smartphones in Q2 2017. So, keep an eye out for more smartphone launches from Nokia.
