Nook to launch 8GB tablet February 22nd via Wal-Mart

The affordable tablet race will always continue to evolve and progress as time progresses. Just a year ago it was hard to find a descent tablet at a descent price. Now it seems you can find them not only online, but at local mega stores like Fred Meyer and Wal-mart. The Nook by B&N is a great little device that gives you a good among of bang for your buck. It has one minor drawback that is helping to stifle sales. It cost $50 more than its closest competitor, the Kindle Fire. What gives? The Nook has plenty of other factors to consider when lining them up side-by-side to see if your $50 is worth spending or saving.

Now, Nook will be launching an 8GB version of the device to bring it in at the same price tag as the Kindle Fire, $199.99, we hope. I think they are hoping that it renews people interest and sales start to pick up. Will it be enough for people to look at the Nook over the Fire? We aren’t sure yet. If the 8GB model is identical to the current offering with less memory, then it is still has may things that can detract from it being the purchase choice. Mainly the required charging adapter that it comes with. From what I have read, you have a specific charger required and can’t use the plethora of cables you are already in possession of.

Do you think a drop in memory is going to do the trick for the Nook, or is it too late for them to really compete with the Kindle Fire?
