North America-only HSPA+ Galaxy Nexus makes its way to the FCC

Galaxy Nexus

A new version of the Galaxy Nexus, dubbed the GT-i9250T, stopped by the FCC yesterday. This new variant supports 3G radio frequencies of 850MHz and 1,900MHz, but not the 1,700MHz band of the current HSPA+ version. This could mean the G-Nex will show up on AT&T, and that Ma Bell is doing what they can to keep its customers with the phone from jumping ship to the T-Mobile Network.

There’s always the chance that this could be a mysterious new Canadian version, but that’s highly unlikely, as carriers like Mobilicity and Wind use the 1,700MHz band, meaning they’d be left out of the party, and I’m not quite sure they’d allow such a thing to happen. They know this phone is a hot commodity, and they want a piece just like everyone else.

The phone is expected to drop sometime in the next 10 days, but we’ll have to wait and see. We’ve heard squat from AT&T about the Galaxy Nexus just yet, so I think it’s better to just file this under “noted” and wait til something more solid comes in. While you’re waiting, why not head over to the AndroidStory Forums and introduce yourself, if you haven’t already?
