The NVIDIA Shield has become the poster child for handheld Android gaming, and at its $349 asking price was probably well within everyone’s perception of price for the first Android device sporting a Tegra 4 chip. Well, after getting some market research, NVIDIA has decided that the retail price of Shield would be better at $299. No complaints right? And don’t panic if you’ve already preordered; NVIDIA will only deduct your balance when your device ships, and it will deduct the new, reduced price.
The Shield has now been confirmed to be shipping on the 27th of June and as per earlier announcements, the Shield will only be available for purchase in the US and Canada at first while NVIDIA works on its supply and observes the demand among consumers, rolling out the Shield internationally only when it has a firm grasp on the market. Let’s hope they get to know the market really quickly…
Has anybody preordered a NVIDIA Shield? Let us know if you’re looking forward to receiving one after the 27th June.
