NVIDIA Shield Will Be Shipping On July 31st

nvidia shieldAlmost a month ago, NVIDIA dropped the bombshell that they would have to delay the release of the NVIDIA Shield, their hotly anticipated handheld games console, till July, citing mechanical issues caused by third-party components. Since then, there’s been no hide nor hair from the graphics juggernaut regarding a revised released date for their debut Android device, till today.

NVIDIA today made a statement that said:

“We have great news to share with you about NVIDIA SHIELD. The high-performance gaming and entertainment portable is in full production and will begin shipping on July 31.

Last month, we made the difficult decision to delay the launch of SHIELD due to a mechanical issue we found in our rigorous testing process. Since then we have been working non-stop to put SHIELD through its paces and ensure it meets the highest quality control standards in the industry.”

The statement goes on to name the physical shops you will be able to buy the Shield at in the US and Canada and is adding a bonus T-shirt if you pre-order now. Barely making good on their promise to ship in July, hopefully this is the last roadblock in NVIDIA’s way to releasing Shield to the public because we genuinely want to see how it performs.
