PIN and Pattern unlock features prove useless on AT&T Galaxy S II

So you went out and bought that brand new Samsung Galaxy S II on AT&T. You get yourself all synced up with your email, grab some apps from the market and get your PIN or pattern lock all squared away to keep your information safe and protected. Everything is running smoothly and you are a happy SGSII owner. Guess what, your phone isn’t really secure.

Various websites, include BGR and IntoMobile, have tested and confirmed that there is a device bug that will allow anyone to bypass either of these two security features quickly and easily. It is as simple and locking the device and letting it go to sleep and unlocking the device. The results aren’t always perfect, but if you do it a time or two you won’t have any pesky security screens to deal with. BGR was kind enough to even make a quick video to show you how easy it is –

Not everyone uses either of those security features, but for those of you that do, this is a real problem. I am certain that Samsung and AT&T are already pounding the pavement to solve this issue. There could be an update rolling out for the devices fairly soon to address it, we hope.
