Pivos officially announces XBMC test-build for XIOS DS Media Play

XBMC has been making headlines across the boards. As one of the most well-known and used Media Center add-on software’s on devices globally, it should come as no surprise that Android enthusiast and tech junkies are extremely excited about it coming to our platform finally. The first working test-build of the XBMC software has been designed and created with Pivos and their XIOS DS Media Play device.

“As inexpensive multi-purpose embedded devices begin finding their way into more and more consumer living-rooms, we wanted to offer something to set us apart from the vanilla options out there, and XBMC was the obvious choice for a full media experience”, said Jack Chen, Chief of Operations at Pivos. “Our development effort on XBMC had yielded far more impressive results on our hardware platform. By engaging the open source community and sponsoring their effort can help continue expanding the possibilities.”

Being developed specifically to work with the XIOS DS, the add-on will bring full video and audio acceleration with support for nearly any media file you can toss in its direction. Pretty exciting news. Check out the full press release below and as we find out more information about it we will be sure to let you all know. Be sure to checkout their site for firmware updates and other information about the device.
