The Motorola Moto E wasn’t a top-tier phone. In fact, it sad at the low-end of the spectrum. That didn’t make a great purchase as the device sported much of what makes Motorola devices great at a fraction of the cost and size. Motorola killed it with this device and it would only make sense for them to follow-up with a slightly better version of the device. It would appear that a leaked press render of what the second generation Moto E will look like has surfaced for us to all pick a part.
Sadly, a press render doesn’t offer up a TON of information. It does apparently depict that the next iteration will look very similar, but carry a front facing camera and ditch the bottom silver grill. I will go out on a limb and say the front facing camera will be a very low res camera, but a camera none the less. One could argue it might be a Moto G, but with the lack of rear flash, it wouldn’t make much sense unless the ring on the camera is actually a ring flash. It is hard to tell in the image, but it certainly looks more like a normal metal ring. Plus the bezel on the Moto G was smaller on the current device where as the Moto E carried a larger one.
The depicted device also appears to be running Android 5.0 Lollipop, judging by the softkey icons. Pay no mind to the messaging icon as that is the one Motorola has been using on their devices for some time. Just go look at the Moto G and current Moto E. It would also appear that there is a second noise-canceling mic on the rear by the camera.
If this is indeed a little glimpse of the next generation Moto E, it might be safe to assume that Motorola will be making it official in March at Mobile World Congress. They very well could announce it sooner though.
