They are looking to perfect their dual-core chips before moving forward. Judging from some of the benchmark scores we have seen over the last few weeks, they are doing a great job of it too. Take a look at the scores produced by the latest S4 dual-core chip they are working with.
On the other side of the coin, all the big boys are migrating to quad-core. There is something spectacularly amazing about seeing that listed on the side of your devices box, if for no other reason then to say you have it. With Qualcomm focusing its efforts on dual-core and hopping on the train for quad-core, it could hurt them in the long run. The consumers want the next big thing and if it isn’t from Qualcomm they are likely to jump to Nvidia or Samsung to get it. Qualcomm has every intention of putting a quad-core chip to market, but they don’t plan to do so till Q4. Is that too little too late? Hopefully not.
