Revenue and profits going down ahead of new HTC product Announcements

By now you should all know that HTC has been down in the dumps over the last year or so. Even with devices hitting like the DROID DNA and One X+ in the Android world, along with their Windows Phone 8X, HTC saw revenue and profit loss in the final quarter of 2012.  The company reported Q4 revenue of NT$60 billion, or $2.03 billion U.S. Which is down from Q3 which was at  NT$70.2. HTC expects the decline to continue through Q1 of 2013, predicting revenue in the NT$50-60 range.

Even with profits and revenue dropping, HTC CEO Peter Chou is still optimistic about 2013 and the future of HTC –

“We continue to focus on the most important element of our business: innovation,” said Peter Chou, CEO of HTC. “Our teams are delivering beautifully designed phones, containing the newest technological advancements. Outstanding products, paired with improvements in our marketing execution and overall readiness give us reason to feel optimistic about the progress we will make in 2013.”

We are inclined to agree with him too. HTC does make an amazing looking and feeling device. Always packed with some pretty impressive and spectacular specs.

I think where HTC is really struggling is how they are executing the delivery of their devices. You have the amazing DROID DNA, only for Verizon. The One X+ on AT&T and so on. They might have a great flagship device, but not getting it into the hands of everyone on ever carrier like Samsung does, is sure to be a factor in their decline. We hope the more recently rumored HTC M7 that is sure to be announced February 19th, will be the device that can turn things around. We have heard the all four U.S. carriers will be toting the device. We will know more when the press conference rolls through and we are sure to hear even more at Mobile World Congress also.
