[REVIEW] Acase Supreme Pro Case For Galaxy S4, A Supremely Decently-Priced, Good-Looking Case

acase supreme proAcase is a Taiwanese-based accessories manufacturer and has recently launched their case for the Samsung Galaxy S4, the Acase Supreme Pro, designed to be “durable, sleek and affordable”. We’ll take a look at the case today and see how good of a case it is for your Galaxy S4.

Straight away, even before opening the box, we can see that the Acase Supreme Pro is a great looking case, with its glossy, metallic finish. It comes in  7 colours: iron gray, white, royal blue, red, pink, light blue and black, with all the cases having the glossy finish except for black, which instead has a matte finish. I’m quite a fan of the colour backing with the black inner layer; kind of looks like the case is almost wearing eye-liner.

Inside the box, you get the bare-bones contents with only the case inside; it would have been nice to see a screen protector as well, but I guess that draws attention away from the case which is the main event. The case itself actually uses a dual layer design to encapsulate the Galaxy S4, using a silicon inner layer to hug your phone and a hardened polycarbonate (PC), coloured shell to resist any harder knocks to your phone. The shell is actually advertised to be dust-proof, but in my brief time playing with it, it did manage to pick up a bit of debris, though that could be said of any case with a glossy, PC shell.

acase supreme proUnless you’re like me, who doesn’t read instructions, you’ll find putting on the case a snap. As per the instructions on the back of the box, of which there are only 3, you remove the PC shell and fit the silicon inner layer to your Galaxy S4 first before attaching the shell afterwards. If you tried to shove your Galaxy S4 straight into the case, you’ll more than likely struggle as the silicon edge struggles to fit to the phone in this scenario. So if you’re the type of person who likes to put your phone in and out of your case quite frequently, you’ll need to learn a few new tricks with this case.

There’s also quite an edge on the silicon inner layer, which should mean your screen will be protected in any screen-first drops. The only thing that I can say that’s potentially bad about the access holes around the case is that the hole for the audio jack is quite narrow, so if your audio plug is slightly wider than most, you might have difficulty fitting it into the jack.

The case is very nice to hold and the glossy finish is a great touch, if a bit slippery. If anything, the case will make your Galaxy S4 a bit chunky, but since it encases your phone so snugly, it does give you the confidence that it will protect your phone in the event of a slight mishap. At $24.99 USD, the Acase Supreme Pro is a no-frills, decently priced case for your Galaxy S4 and should protect your phone from more than the odd bump, while looking snazzy with its glossy (or matte) finish.
