Review: Spigen SGP Samsung Galaxy S III Valentinus Genuine Leather Wallet Case

Here we are again with another review of a case designed for style and protection by Spigen. They were kind enough to send over a few products for us to use and share with you all, but we are breaking them into their own reviews for ease of access and reference. The last case we took a look at was the Neo Hybrid Lumi series. It is also the same case we are offering up for the talents of a graphically endowed individual to win.

Now we have another case to show you, one that is a little bit different, a little more useful and yes, one could say a little more girly. In the hands of the right individual, it can be rather great. Meet the Valentinus. Yes, even the name sounds a bit girly. Before you pass judgement on the book by its cover, let’s dive into how it looks, feels and works.

This case is made from Genuine leather. It has that great leather feel and smell. It is that quality that makes it look very professional, much like a leather brief case does. There is a single leather strap that comes over the center of the case with a single metal button to secure it from flopping open.

On the rear of the case are the cut outs for your camera, flash and speaker. Keeping your device usable without having to take it out of the case.

Around the outside of the case while it is closed, you will notice the cut out for access to the power button along with easy access to your charging port and headphone jack all without having to open it up.

When you pull the secure button strap off and open the case you will see a few different things. Fist, the right hand side is where you device will go. The custom molded polycarbonate material is slightly flexible but fits tightly around your device. So don’t worry about it falling out on you. The lining behind that is made from a Soft microfiber chamude. It is very soft to the touch and has the Spigen logo replicated across it. It is a nice touch, but doesn’t serve much purpose other than looks.

On the left side of the flip is where you find some much-needed bonuses though. It has three slots for Debit or Credit cards, Business cards, Safeway Club cards and the likes. You might be able to get two cards in one slot if needed, but we would say no more than the three in the slots provided so that it doesn’t make the case bulge or add unwanted pressure to your screen. Just like a wallet, there is a pouch right under the credit card slots. This could be used for anything want of course such as pictures of your kids, business cards or cash. Ya, some people still carry cash around.

This case would be perfect for really anyone that wants a classy or professional look when going into a meeting or heading out to the club. It isn’t much larger that your Galaxy S III, but offers storage for all the important day-to-day life stuff we all have to deal with.

So, what do you think? I looks really nice and feels great in the hand. Your phone definitely won’t fall out if you are using it. It might be a little awkward talking on the phone though, so a Bluetooth headset or using speakerphone with this case is recommended, which is one reason we only gave it 4.5 stars. The second reason being the microfiber chamude interior, it looks nice but serves no purpose for protecting your device. It is placed in a location that doesn’t touch your phone at all. It would have been nice if that chamude was also stitched over or in place of the Credit Card holders to better protect the screen. There are no magnets in the case so you don’t have to worry about your CC’s getting wiped either.

While the cases in the main image shows off four various colors, only the black and blue are available through their site at Spigen.com. Either color will set you back $39.99. We did a little digging and found some more of the colors available on Amazon, the black is still showing as $39.99, but other color variations are hitting the $49.99 and $54.99 marker. A few of those links can be found below. Happy shopping and stay tuned for two more great product reviews of Spigen products later in the week.
