Rumor: Is Samsung bringing a new, larger than 10-inch Galaxy Tab to the party at MWC 2012?

We’re now exactly one month away from Mobile World Congress 2012, the cutting-edge product and technology exhibition held annually in Barcelona. As many of you know, this is one of the largest events in the world that pertains directly to our heart and soul — mobile technology. Last year, Samsung used the venue to unveil its Galaxy S II and Galaxy Tab 10.1 and this year the Korean electronics manufacture is expected to make big waves again. We’ve heard chatter about a possible announcement of the Galaxy S III, though we’ve also read reports that Sammy has decided to hold off on announcing the device at MWC 2012, so we’ll have to play the waiting game until next month.

Until then, we’ve got another little rumor for you all to speculate and salivate about. Word on the Web today is all about a possible announcement from Samsung at MWC 2012 about a new Galaxy Tab, powered by a dual-core 2 GHz Exynos 5250 processor and running Ice Cream Sandwich. Furthermore the device is said to feature a display larger than 10 inches with a WXQGA (2560×1600) resolution — can I get an “Oh, hell yeah”?

You’re probably wondering where this rumor came from, right? Well, our good buddy Taylor from AndroidAndMe, happened to make an intriguing discovery while visiting CES earlier this month. While perusing the Sammy booth, Taylor came across a a prototype tablet powered by Exynos 5250 and already running Ice Cream Sandwich. Of course, his curiosity got the best of him and he did what any of us would do in that situation — whip out a camera and take a few pics. But here comes the interesting part — after Taylor’s meeting with Samsung’s rep, he was kindly asked to delete the pics. Thanks for the tease, Samsung — and good call, because we’d all be sourcing the hell outta those pics now, had those pics ever seen the light of day.

Now, we could speculate on this all day if we wanted to, but with the way the mobile roller coaster plays its ride out, we’d rather just wait until next month before we start peeing our pants about the next Galaxy Tab. But if there’s any truth behind this rumor, I’m going to need to buy some new underwear soon because it looks like the tablet is definitely going to be a hot topic item.

Until then, fellow Androidites — you know who loves ya!
