[Rumor] Samsung prepping up Galaxy S IV for announcement in February

I know you all love and hate technology and the speed at which it advances just as much as we do. It helps produce some wonderful devices, but as you as you drop your bank account by a few hundred bucks, there is something else on the way. It should come as no surprise that Samsung has a Galaxy S IV in the pipeline. For those unaware of roman numerals, that would be the Galaxy S 4.

Apparently The Korean Times have picked up some news that is not all that surprising. Samsung officials and part suppliers have confirmed that Samsung is on track to announce the Samsung Galaxy S IV at Mobile World Congress 2013 in February. They also state that the S IV should be hitting the global scene no later than March of 2013. The intel supplier says the S IV will be more than capable of drawing the spotlight of Apple and iPhone 5.

“Samsung is ready to unveil the next Galaxy smartphone _ the Galaxy S4 _ at early next year’s mobile world congress (MWC) in the Spanish city of Barcelona,”

For now the rumored specs leaking out sound pretty nice, but are sounding only like small increases. Talks of a 5-inch display are among the more prevalent. 5-inches wouldn’t be all that hard for Samsung since that is what the current Note is offering. We aren’t sure how that would play out with the launch of the Note II hitting just a few months before that. The original Note was already too big for many. They would have to keep the width down and get the screen closer to the edge like Motorola has done on the RAZR M. The source still isn’t sure if they will be implementing the infamous flexible OLED’s that they have been working on or not.  Other info places the Exynos quad-core processor inside along with full LTE support. Again, just like the Note II specs are talking about.

This is going to be a fairly interesting little announcement. It would bring the world a second quad-core device from Samsung, both offering different abilities but the same internals. The Galaxy S IV surly won’t offer an S-Pen, because that would detract from the advertising and enchantment of the Note II. Maybe those interesting renders of an ultra thin device with edge-to-edge screening we saw floating around before the Galaxy S III was announced weren’t fake after all. With both devices coming out only months apart, I personally might just have to wait on a purchase and weigh my options.

We will keep our eyes peeled for more info on the S IV. With CES taking place just a month before MWC, we are expecting to see more information and possibly a test device floating around in executive hands by then.
