[RUMOUR] HTC To Manufacture Amazon Smartphones

amazon smartphonesFor some time now, we’ve all known that HTC is in trouble. The mere fact that there’s almost no doubt in the community that the rumours that the smartphone manufacturer is in acquisition talks with Lenovo are true is probably a sign of the times for the Taiwanese outfit. With the launch of its long overdue and generally uninspiring phablet, the HTC One Max, as well as Sense 5.5, HTC still looks to be in a tight spot financially as it tries to avoid going under. However, in all this turmoil, there may be a glimmer of hope.

There is a rumour circulating courtesy of The Financial Times that Amazon may be courting HTC to manufacture smartphones for its rumoured entry into the market. Even though an Amazon smartphone technically hasn’t been confirmed or announced, it’s still widely expected to be released before the end of the year, possibly even as part of a three model range, as reported by the Times. While Amazon’s devices tend to focus on affordability, which contradicts HTC’s endeavours to devices with superior build quality at a premium, it is definitely a venture that could help get HTC back in the black, and boosts Amazon’s increasingly popular device range.

Whether this rumour is true or not, it would definitely be good to see HTC remain in the smartphone game, even if it is behind an Amazon label. What do you think about this rumour? Let us know what your opinion is.
