Samsung announced that another one of the goodies they debuted at CES 2011 would be coming out soon. The Galaxy Player is essentially a Samsung Galaxy S without a 3G radio.
The concept of an Android based media device sounds great but isn’t that what our phones and tablets already do? Although so far there’s nothing like this on the market aside from said phones and tablets, for the middle users that keep an iPod or other media devices to store and stream music, this may be a breakthrough since Android is so customizable.
The Galaxy Players will be available in two sizes- 4 and 5-inch- and will release with 2.2 Froyo and “will” be getting a Gingerbread update. They will also come equipped with Qik for VOIP calls over WiFi with Skype also being loaded for video chat. No pricing or availability has been announced yet, however spring was mentioned.
