Samsung Galaxy S III for AT&T and Sprint being delayed till June 28th

What a mess to try and sift through. We have spent the last hour sifting through forums and official channels to try and confirm what the heck is going on. We recently got word that T-Mobile will be splitting the retail release of the Samsung Galaxy S III. That was bad enough. Then we catch wind of delays with AT&T and Sprint as well. So we went on a mission to try and gather as much info as we could for you guys to stay informed. Lets break this down by carrier and relavant information.

Sprint

Currently there are a number of emails and post cards landing in peoples boxes with information regarding their pre-orders. Reading through the Sprint community forums and multiple chat sessions with various reps that have been posted, it seems there are a few things going on and no one can seem to get a straight answer. The Galaxy S III in the 16GB model seems to be shipping on time. Some people state that have already received their devices and all pre-orders should be fulfilled by this week. That doesn’t mean you are going to get it before the 21st though, but they are doing their best.

As for the 32GB version, that one seems to be delayed. Here is Sprints official communication via Facebook –

Samsung Galaxy S III availability update

Posted by CMatSprint on Jun 19, 2012 5:07:13 PM

Due to overwhelming demand and limited supply for Sprint’s Samsung Galaxy S III, we are running a little behind on deliveries. The 16GB version of Samsung Galaxy S III device will be available in Web Sales and Telesales (1-800-SPRINT1) beginning on Thursday, June 21. It will be in all remaining sales channels next week.

We are optimistic that we’ll be shipping all Samsung Galaxy S III-16GB pre-orders this week and that they will be delivered by June 21 as anticipated. There is a chance, however, that we may be a day or two late. We anticipate shipping all Samsung Galaxy S III-32GB pre-orders next week. To check the status of your pre-order, please visit www.sprint.com/myorder.

We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate the patience of our customers as we work through this minor delay in availability. We know that many of you are eager to experience the next generation of the Samsung Galaxy series on the only network to provide unlimited data plans to new and existing customers. Should this situation change, we will continue to update this post as we have new information to share.

To join other customers in discussion, please visit the Samsung Galaxy S III section of our Community.

Samsung Galaxy S® III 32GB

So the device will be officially available via online sales and telesales June 21st, but won’t hit stores for purchase until next week. That lines up with a retail release of June 28th that we heard a rumor of earlier in the day through lots of forum searching and emails received by various people. Near as we can tell things are getting backed up all over the place.

AT&T

AT&T seems to be in the same boat as Sprint and T-Mobile. A email received by an XDA member puts the Galaxy S III being pushed back to June 28th.

Thank you for shopping with Sams Club!

We were just notified by AT&T that they have moved the nationwide launch of the Samsung Galaxy S III 4G LTE phone to June 28th.
There is nothing that you need to do. We’ve reserved your phone and will begin shipping all approved orders the moment we receive the devices. We just wanted to make sure you had the most up-to-date information.

Thanks again for shopping with us. We appreciate your business.

Sincerely,

Your Friends at Sams Club

Target is also sending out a similar email to its pre-order customers.

Looks like some Sprint customers will see their devices this week, if they haven’t already. You guys that ordered the 16GB model anyways. The 32GB model is pushed back a week. AT&T customers are looking at another week for anything to land. T-Mobile didn’t opt for any pre-ordering, but are limiting their launch to the top 29 markets in the 21st with national availability on June 27th. Verizon seems to be the only one on target for the moment.

What kind of correspondence are you guys receiving from Sprint, Wirefly, Target, Sams Club, AT&T and anywhere else? Are we looking at a week delay across the boards? Again, this is all information that we dug up from XDA forums 10th entry for AT&T. We found the Sprint info from Sprint Community forums, Sprint Facebook and a Wirefly communication released by Gottabemobile. While the Sprint locations are pretty legit, we are still trying to nail down a solid bit of information from AT&T.
