Today Sprint has announced that they are adding the Samsung Galaxy S5 and the Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport to their Sprint Lease program. The program will allow current, new and business customers to pick up either of the devices through the carrier for $0 down / $20 a month for 24 months.
“Sprint Lease makes it easy and affordable for new and existing customers to acquire the innovative Samsung Galaxy S 5 and Galaxy S 5 Sport,†said Tom Roberts, senior vice president of Marketing, Sprint. “Sprint Lease is the lowest cost for customers at point of sale and is the lowest monthly cost for acquiring the Galaxy S 5 or Galaxy S 5 Sport. Sprint is giving U.S. consumers what they want – simplicity and value.â€
The Sprint Lease program is a bit different from what the other guys are doing. Once the 24 month lease period is up customers have 4 options. You can turn in the S5 and pick up something else on lease, purchase the leased device, continue leasing the device or turn it in and cancel service.
Sprint is offering an additional promotion for existing customer right now, a Loyalty Service Credit, as well. If you are an existing customer you can get the Sprint Galaxy S5 or Sprint Galaxy S5 Sport for the same $0 down and $20 a month, however, if you do so between today and January 15th, you will get a $15 bill credit to your account every month. So, basically you can have one of the two devices for an out-of-pocket price of $5 per month. Oh, and this applies to every single line on your account and includes any new added lines. The $15 Loyalty Service Credit will remain on your account for as long as you have an active account on a qualifying service plan and a device on lease.
There is a catch though. There is always a catch. The credit won’t start to appear on your account for one to two months and you need to be on the Unlimited My Way, My All-in, Simply Everything or Everything Data (Share) plans. Still, $5 a month is a steal.
