Samsung Galaxy S6 apps available to install on TouchWiz Android 5.0 devices

Much of the world knows a bit about the latest announcement from Samsung when they showed off the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. The new devices bring a premium design to the Galaxy S line with a mix of metal and glass, ditching their plastic backs and parts. They made a number of changes that are getting mixed reviews from would be buyers. One thing that changed internally are a number of Samsung’s apps. While Samsung did pull back on some of the pre-installed apps, there are still a few that you will find on the new devices. Those updated apps are now available for you to give a whirl.

In order for you to take advantage of the newer designed and updated apps you will need to be running Samsung’s TouchWiz UI and be sporting Android 5.0. That includes the Sprint Note 4, T-Mobile Note 3 and Galaxy S5, Verizon Galaxy S5 and the Galaxy S4 GPE that I know of for certain.  Others in other countries have it on the Galaxy S4 too. You could also be one of the many people who just flashed a stock firmware from another country. In any case, if you meet those requirements then you can give the newly updated apps a run on your device by simply installing them like any other side loaded APK. Here is the list of apps you can snag at your leisure.

•S Translator
•S Note
•Optical Reader
•GeoNews
•GearManager
•Gear Fit
•Smart Remote
•Smart Switch
•Kids Mode

All the associated files, along with screenshots, can be found at Albe95’s XDA Developers thread. You will likely want to uninstall any current versions of the apps above with Titanium Backup or similar app before installing the new versions. Be sure to back them up first in case anything goes wrong and you need to revert. You can also visit our Samsung Galaxy S6 apps folder on AndroidFileHost where we also hosted the same APK’s.
