When it comes to objective mobile camera testing, DxOMark can be considered one of the best and most thorough. With the influx of new smartphones announced at MWC 2016, DxOMark has no doubt been hard at work and it has just released its result for the new Samsung Galaxy S7 edge. Considering that one of the top two devices on DxOMark’s standings is the Galaxy S6 edge+ (the other is the Sony Xperia Z5), it should come as no surprise that the camera on the Galaxy S7 edge is the new champion in DxOMark’s standings with a high score of 88.
In DxOMark’s summary of the device’s performance, it mentions that the Galaxy S7 edge performs admirably in low light environments with good detail preservation and is equally good indoors and out. The autofocus is extremely quick and accurate and the LED flash performs well in all situations, although using the flash under tungsten lighting can give your photos a yellow wash. All-in-all, if you’re after a new smartphone and you want the best of the best, you won’t need to go past the Galaxy S7 edge – though it will be interesting to see where the LG G5 slots in when DxOMark finishes that review.
