There was a time when Samsung would launch its products all around the world at the same time, but time has long passed now. These days, Samsung, like every other manufacturer, releases its products in certain regions first (read: US and Europe) before releasing them around the world at a snails pace. This is exactly the case for the Samsung Gear S2 and Gear VR which has been available in the US and Europe for some time already – thankfully for those Samsung and Android fans in India, as some sources have confirmed that the fastest growing smartphone market in the world is going to receive these two wearable products as early as this month.
To further cement these rumours, SamMobile has confirmed that Samsung has been working on localized firmware for the Gear S2 smartwatch in India. It’s hard to tell exactly how well either of these products will do, especially given that the Gear VR still exists in an emerging market and the Gear S2’s predecessor didn’t sell so well in India not too long ago. Still, Samsung presumably thinks it’s a good enough idea so let’s see what comes out of it.
