We got our curved phones with the LG G Flex and Galaxy Round, now it is time to make that display wrap around the device…slightly. Samsung gives a little hint on the wrap around display concept, and this is something I can get behind.
Samsung sent their patent application for the very concept you see above to the USPTO. The wrap around screen will shine new light on how we use our devices. You will be able to utilize that diagonal portion of the screen to, unlock your device, scroll through apps, add tabs for quick access, and see your battery level was its charging. Truly an awesome concept, and just the whole design of the phone screams innovation.
This next image shows us how it will be used for an eBook or magazine apps. You will be able to skip chapters or go back pages very easily, and same applies with your contacts.
We kind of saw all this already at CES this year, when Samsung showed demo videos of the YOUM display. According to Bloomberg, Samsung might have these new displays out by next year, and it that is the case, the Galaxy Round will be a faint memory.
