Just over a week ago, a seemingly inane story emerged claiming that Samsung’s warranty on its Galaxy S4 Active does not cover for water damage. Emotions soon flared as the story spread and multiplied as the Android community became concerned, even enraged, at the idea that Samsung would sell a phone but not insure its customers for the very features it advertised for their use.
Turns out all this furore has hit home at Samsung, who told CNET today that “We are working to improve the warranty condition of the GALAXY S4 Active for customers”. And rightly so, as the Galaxy S4 Active bears an IP67 certificate, rating it for 30 minute escapades in 3 feet of water. Even American network AT&T have taken matters into their own hands, replacing any Active that’s gone to a watery grave.
Think Samsung’s done the right thing in moving to change their warranty, or is it too little too late? Let us know what you think.
