In just one year, Samsung has managed to move from a joke in the Android world to making major waves worldwide. Of course I am talking about the Samsung Galaxy S series of phones. In Q3 of 2010 they have reported between 5 and 7 million devices sold. Now their goal is to make the sales of the device reach 10 million by the end of the year.
I don’t see why this should be a problem. The latest Galaxy S device to hit a U.S. carrier was the Samsung Mesmerize which launched on US Cellular earlier last week. That puts a total of 5 variants in the U.S. alone. Also, all 5 variants are easily rooted and have a few developers really pushing this device to its full potential. With a 1.6Ghz overclock working, custom 2.2 ROMs and custom 2.1 ROMs that scream it’s easy to see why it has sold so well so far. Even with the latest T-Mobile launch of the G2 and the upcoming My Touch 4G, I still feel their variant is the best phone T-Mobile has put to market.
How many of you have a Galaxy S variant? Are you recommending it over the currently unrootable G2?
