Shazam and LG have teamed up to bring the popular music discovery application to LG’s Android devices by a worldwide rollout which has already started with the European LG GT540. LG is looking to make an impact in the Android device market, but has yet to have any real claim to fame devices. The LG Optimus One and Optimus Chic, which were announced last week, offer the latest Android 2.2 firmware, but have nothing to brag about under the hood.
Andrew Fisher, CEO of Shazam, commented: “Our aim has always been to deliver a fast, accurate and reliable service to consumers to further enhance the capabilities of their devices. Shazam will bring the most complete music discovery experience to millions more LG smartphone users around the world. We are excited to be working with LG and proud of their vote of confidence in Shazam.”
Shazam has over 75 million users and is currently offered on multiple platforms and brings many features including:
- Discover new music: identify the song that is playing with the option to buy the track.
- Learn more about music: read track and album reviews, artist biographies and discographies, plus view song lyrics.
- Find out the most popular tagged music with the Shazam Tag Chart.
- Find tour information: local and international tour dates for tagged artists and links to buy tickets to concerts.
- Share music moments with friends through Facebook, Twitter, SMS and email.
- Watch YouTube videos for tagged artists.
- Access the Shazam Blog for leading insight to new music.
The Shazam application will come preloaded and will offer a free 7-day trial; once expired the user can purchase the full application for £2.99 ($4.70 or €3.63). LG still has a lot of work to do, but as with most things, success takes a lot of hard work and dedication and it just looks like LG has spread themselves out too thin.
