Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc Video Review

I posted my initial impressions of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc a couple of weeks and now I’ve had chance to play with the phone some more, I decided to record a quick video review so you can see the device in action.

The Xperia Arc is available on the Rogers network in Canada, but that’s about it as far as this side of the pond goes.  You can purchase the unlocked version at a few internet locations, but you’ll be forking out at least $450 for the phone.  No carrier discounts are available and at this stage in its life, I don’t expect any to come.  Hopefully future Sony Ericsson devices like the Xperia Arc S will get adopted, but it seems like slow pickings for Sony Ericsson in the US.

If you want to purchase the most stylish phone released this year then this is the phone for you.  It’s the prettiest phone available today.  The lines are just incredibly well done and it feels good in your hands.  The screen has almost no transition from the glass to the phone bezel and everything just looks and flows extremely well.  Sony are very good at the form, but they just lacked a little on the function and that dropped this phone down a mark.

The phone itself is not badly spec’d at all and keeps it on par with some of the recently released devices, but it’s a step down from the most powerful super-phones that are currently being released.

Here’s what we know about the insides:

  • 1 GHz Snapdragon Processor.
  • 1GB Internal memory.
  • 256MB RAM
  • 4.2″ LCD Display with 480 x 854 pixels
  • 8 MP Camera with LED Flash
  • Full 720p@30fps video recording with continuous autofocus, video light and video stabilizer
  • 125 x 63 x 8.7 mm in size
  • Weighs 117gms

Compared to today’s dual core powerhouses, the processor is at least a generation behind, but the rest of the phone is pretty much up to spec.  The only exception being the lack of a front facing camera.

So there your’s quick over view, now take a look at the video review below for more details and a better look at the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc.
