Sony appears to be steaming ahead with its bi-annual flagship device releases with the latest leak seemingly confirming that its next flagship, presumably called the Sony Xperia Z4, will be announced at CES 2015 in January. What’s most interesting about this rumour is that Sony is also going to be reviving the Xperia Z Ultra line, introducing the Z4 Ultra alongside the Z4. Both devices have changed sizes, though surprisingly the Z4 is the only device here that has increased in size to a borderline phablet 5.4-inches – the Z4 Ultra is apparently going to slim down to a more manageable 5.9-inches, a far cry from the original Z Ultra which measured 6.4-inches.
The rumour goes on to say that both the Z4 and Z4 Ultra will adopt the Snapdragon 805, perhaps a little disappointing for those who were hoping the rumours of a Snapdragon 810 were true. We’re more inclined to believe that the 805 will be in the devices simply because the release is happening in less than two months. Perhaps surprisingly, the rumours specifies 4GB RAM for the devices and a 3,420mAh battery in the Z4, and it appears Sony will finally be updating the 20.7MP camera that has remained essentially untouched since the Xperia Z1. The last tidbit says that the Z4 Ultra is going to continue the proud tradition of larger form Xperia devices in being extremely thin, apparently measuring just 5.7mm thick.
