Although Nintendo has denied any claims for venturing into the smart phone gaming market, at least one of their software partners will be. Square-Enix already has two titles floating around the Android market,
Crystal-Defenders and
Imaginary Range. They aren’t exactly what we would expect, but they are out there none the less. According to a Japanese gaming magazine,Â
Famitsu, Square is hard at work to bring some of the older classics back to life on Android sometime in 2012. One of the titles that is going to be making its way officially will be Chrono Trigger. A very popular RPG that came out on the SNES back in ’95.
Square-Enix will release the games through their own Square-Enix Gaming Portal and we haven’t heard anything about a market launch just yet. I can’t imagine that they wouldn’t make available via the market at some point and time, but I am sure there is some red tape to clear out first.
Of course you could always just pick up an emulator and play these classics at leisure. It would still be nice to see some of the older games that we all grew up playing actually available via standard channels.
