Sprint and T-Mobile announced that they will be waiving SMS short code fees for donations made to Japan, the fees they are referring to are the charges you get from making SMS donations through organizations and charities.
Sprint started this deal March 11 and T-Mobile confirmed they were on board today. T-Mobile also said “We continue to evaluate the needs of our customers. Our thoughts and condolences go out to those affected by the earthquake and to all of our customers who have friends and loved ones in Japan.”.
While these offerings aren’t on the same scale as what’s being offered by their two competitors, every little bit helps. Could this be some sort of confirmation that Sprint and T-Mobile are working together?
Update:
Sprint will also be waiving fees for calls and texts made to numbers in Japan. They will be offering this service until April 10th.
