According to a thread post in XDA and subsequent conversations, it looks like T-Mobile’s G2 has permanent root now.  Developers have successfully written to the system area of the T-Mobile G2 and made it stick so it doesn’t get overwritten on reboot.
We say … FINALLY!
We still have to see some real proof that this is true, but the guys on XDA are all talking about it.

All we need now is some of the existing ROMs to get converted for the new method or the installation routines for the root to be made public and we should be good to go.
