[Update] T-Mobile G2x Being Pulled From Shelves?

The T-Mobile G2x was released back in April with the intention of being the new flagship device for T-Mobile. Although it’s been a short journey thus far G2x owners have been plagued by numerous issues from nasty battery life, to random reboots, and even the device shutting down completely. While it’s not unusual to experience bugs with new technology, recent news suggests that this may be enough to stop sales.

In a recent article on the TmoNews blog a new bit of information has been mentioned courtesy of a few “ninjas.” According to these sources T-Mobile may be pulling the G2x off the shelves due to the quality control issues. Further evidence of this can be seen by visiting the T-Mobile website as the G2x has mysteriously disappeared.

With nothing official from T-mobile itself this is really nothing more than a rumor at this point. Unusually rumors such as this seem rather hollow however, given the numerous problems with the new device this one doesn’t seem so far-fetched. If T-Mobile is pulling the G2x we suspect something will be done to help out the current owners, by way of a new device or a refund. Only time will tell, keep your eyes peeled.

Update:

“The T-Mobile G2x has been very popular and high demand has resulted in inventory constraints, which we are working to address. We are working with LG to address inventory constraints and expect to return to normal levels in the coming weeks.”

It would seem that initial assumptions were incorrect as the disappearance of the device was due to inventory shortages. While there may be a whole plethora of complaints regarding this device – some of which can’t be fixed by updates – they have yet to be directly addressed. With a device this new it’s likely that time will prove to be the ultimate fix as T-mobile is known for their exceptional customer service.
