Coming as no surprise, the GarminFone from T-Mobile is getting a price cut. From the original price of $199, down 70 bones to $129. Of course, this new price requires a new 2-yr contract. In a recent statement from analyst Yair Reiner of Morgan Keegan, Reiner surveyed 50 T-Mobile stores and estimated only 20,000 units have moved off the shelves and concluded that no more than 5 GarminFones were sold at each store.
Garmin-Asus responded quickly, saying that the GarminFone sales are fine and are moving along as expected. Were they expecting a flop? A price cut this early in the game can only mean one thing.
