The future of the Android OS and Android hardware devices just keeps looking better and better. When the Nexus One was launched, it had built in functionality to unlock the bootloader and allow the developers open access to install modified ROMs. It looks like day one for the MyTouch 3G Slide is going to very similar, although not provided by the manufacturers, but instead, provided by an anonymous contributor to AndroidStory.
Some of you may remember the MyTouch 3G Slide System Image leak that we received in December 2009 from an anonymous source. The leak included the Engineering SPL for the device and it’s looking like that engineering SPL can be used on the released phone to provide root from day one.
I’ve already talk to developers about the future of the MyTouch 3G Slide, and the possibility of custom releases for it and it looks very promising. Wouldn’t it be awesome to have CyangenMOD on the MyTouch 3G Slide from Day One?
