Not too long ago we told you that T-Mobile’s CMO put out yet another statement about the Vibrant getting its hands on the 2.2 update at a press breakfast this morning. That wasn’t all T-Mobile had to say though.
T-Mobile USA CEO Philipp Humm had this to say, “We will launch as new the Samsung Galaxy S 4G … and coming soon, will also be a Sidekick 4G. Everybody knows the Sidekick, and we’re going to relaunch the Sidekick and bring it as a 4G device, Android based, into the market.”
Not much news there really. We all knew the Vibrant 4G was coming, but at least we now know it’s official. On the other hand we have been waiting for some more confirmation about the newest Sidekick 4G. What some of you may not know though, is that Sidekick is a trademark name by T-mobile. Even though Danger was the manufacturer of the old messaging devices, T-Mobile held the name. I can only hope that the newest “Sidekicks” won’t suffer the same fate as the old models did in 2009. I don’t see how it couldn’t be a great device, after all it will run Android.
This year is already shaping up to be a pretty big launch year for Android on T-Mobile. Add these 2 confirmed devices to the list of the Dell Streak 7 and LG G-Slate, and you have a pretty good way to start out the first quarter. Good job T-mobile, it’s about time you stepped up to the plate and started offering the public something new.
