The Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor has had quite a lot of controversy surrounding it the last few weeks, most notably suffering from overheating issues allegedly significant enough for Samsung to shy away from it for their latest flagship, the Galaxy S6. This still hasn’t stopped a large number of manufacturers from ordering the chip for their devices, and a report has dropped this week which might show us exactly why that is.
In the report, the Snapdragon 810 is pitted against the Snapdragon 801, its slightly older brethren and the results are at the very least encouraging. According to the results, which included scenarios with 4K video capture and gaming, the Snapdragon 810 was consistently cooler than the Snapdragon 801, and was well within the 25-45 degree Celsius window that is allowed for standard smartphone operation. With this in mind, the Snapdragon 810 appears to be every bit as good as Qualcomm‘s latest offering should be, and if you previously had any qualms about getting a Snapdragon 810-powered device, you can probably put your mind at ease with these results.
