One of the things that I envy about Motorola’s Atrix handset is that you can text message from a laptop (sort of, you need the laptop accessory). Although there are quite a few services in the Android market that let you text message through your laptop, they are not as functional and as reliable as the Atrix’s setup…except for one special newcomer.
Recently, I discovered Texter/Texty** for Google Chrome while reading some news stories a few weeks ago. At the time, it was buggy, and every so often the app would randomly crash and messages wouldn’t send. I am happy to announce that most of all the bugs have been fixed, and the application works wonders!
All you need to do is sign up for the Beta from the source link below to get started! When your application gets accepted (it might take up to a week, depends on availability), then you will be prompted to downloading the official app from the Android Market, as well as the Google Chrome extension. Then you will be good to go!
Once everything is up and running, you can send and receive messages while you are browsing the web using Google Chrome! When you get a message, a little pop-up shows up, letting you immediately respond, without interrupting your browsing experience!
So what are you waiting for? This application is definitely something that you shouldn’t pass up if you’re interested in texting from your computer!
** Note, the official name is still being worked out. Their app in the Android Market is called Texter, but their website still uses Texty.
