Well this was funny. I woke up today and saw other sites reporting that the CyanogenMod team was not planning on putting their CM baby on the Galaxy S4. Now it seems that might be a different story. This happens a lot. Usually stories in the internet world get thrown out to the public prematurely, and that is what looks like happened here.
The original story was that Team Hacksung had no plans to even buy the newly unveiled device. The reason…Samsung’s software is just a huge pain in the you know what. Samsung has to protect their IP, and doing so, makes their devices not very developer friendly. Their devices also violate the GPL (open source license that covers everything in the Linux kernel used in Android) so there are just hurdles and hurdles that these devs have to go through to get a working version of their software on these phones.
Now it seems CM has commented about this news. They mention that not just one developer speaks for the whole crew. They commented on their G+ page that there has not been any decisions yet on this issue. Simple as that. So I think they still port over some CyanogenMOD to the S 4. It might be more of a pain to do, but that is what these guys live for. Let us know what you guys think.’
