The King of Fighters in the Play Store, limited device Support

I can remember back in my early teens, dropping $10 or $20 a week in the SNK machine at the  bowling alley. Mostly playing Samurai Showdown, Metal Slug and of course, The King of Fighters. It is a classic side scrolling fighting game with 20 fighters to choose from. It features five various game modes to keep you coming back for more. There is ‘Team Battle” which brings the classic 3-on-3. Single 1-on-1 battles, Endless, Challenge and Training. In addition to the various game modes you have unlockable content such as trading cards and illustrations.

While the game looks pretty great, there are a few things that one needs to know. KOF has only been tested and confirmed working on Samsung Galaxy S2, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, Sony Ericsson Xperia acro, Xperia play. Many people have said it fails on the Transformer, Transformer Prime, RAZR, Xperia X10 and many other devices. You are free to test it out on your device, just be sure you have ample time to hit the ‘refund’ button before your 15 minutes runs out as the game will set you back $4.99..

It is great to see more classic games that many of us grew up with hitting our devices. Since I don’t have any of the devices mentioned I can’t give it a whirl sadly. I am curious as to how the game play really is. Fighting games such as these always had some pretty intricate button combination to pull of special moves. Having an on screen joystick can only make that more difficult. It should play well on the Xperia Play though, with the slide out controller. As you can seen in the video below though, it looks like the on screen controls can’t be turned off. That is a little annoying. Anyone out there already tearing things up successfully. Let us know how you like it in the comments.
