The other day we mentioned that Chinese device manufacturer OnePlus has been teasing a “game changer” device since MWC. We postulated that it could have been some kind of gaming-centric device, perhaps a game controller, but the answer may be a little more left field than that, especially for a company that currently only makes mobile-related technology. In an AMA (Ask Me Anything) session on Reddit, and OnePlus spokesperson revealed that this “game changer” is actually going to be the OnePlus DR-1 drone and that they would begin selling it next month.
When you think about it, a few of OnePlus’ teasers do allude to something like a drone, most notably the ad which shows two hands holding some kind of imaginary controller. However, a few things about this revelation are a bit suspicious, particularly the fact that this information was offered up so easily ahead of the device’s unveiling. Then again, maybe this is OnePlus’ way of doing a low key reveal, but almost seems a waste of all its marketing material for it to be revealed like this. Or maybe I’m just over-thinking it.
