The Sims FreePlay finally lands for Android, Wi-Fi needed and almost Mandatory

At the beginning of February we let you guys know that EA was hard at work to drop The Sims FreePlay to Android this month. Following that news, many sites and news outlets started receiving packages from EA with some FreePlay gear inside. Not a bad way to help promote a new game launching. We are pleased to announce that the game has finally been launched.

So whats the big deal about this new iteration to the Sim life?

  • Design and create up to 16 Sims from head to toe
  • Design and build your dream homes or buy fully furnished ones
  • Take care of pets, gardens and bake
  • Give your Sim a career and ear some cash to purchase things
  • complete goals to get Lifestyle points for extra goodies

Much of that sounds a lot like the Sims you are already used to. What makes this version a bit more unique is the fact that it is based on real-time, not Sim time. So as your day progresses so does you Sims day. Making the game not one you sit down and play for hours, but rather one you check in with constantly. It really makes it a long-lasting game.

The app is free in the market, but after installing you will need to download an additional 640 to 830 MBs of data. Broad spectrum, I know, but that is what it told me when I launched it. A Wi-Fi connection is highly recommended.

It looks pretty great, but I can already see where it might cause some people some serious grief. Besides the huge download file required, EA mentions that Wi-Fi should be used at all times to play. Based on the fact that it is a highly rich and immersive game and internet connection while playing is required. Hmmm, I can only imagine how fast our AT&T brethren will hit that throttling point just to play.

NOTES:
– This all-new experience of The Sims is designed for play on Android devices and is not connected to our Facebook game.
– You must have an Internet connection to play, so please make sure your device is connected.
– Due to the rich, immersive quality of this game, we recommend connecting to WiFi to download and play.

If you are like me, and connected to Wi-Fi 95% of your day, then there should really be no issue. As soon as your find your self searching for a Starbucks just to check in on your Sim, then we have an issue we should probably talk about. If you aren’t threatened by the requirements, feel free to click or scan the QR code below to snag the app.
