We finally got to see the finished product of the SIII, We already went over the main specs in an earlier post and shared the entire press gallery with you all. The device definitely looks impressive. We now know quite a lot about the device. The 4.8-inch Super AMOLED HD screen, quad-core Exynos, 2,100 mAh battery, three memory sizes (16/32/64) and a removable SD card slot. While the hardware is a big deal, the software is what makes the device so great. Lets take brief tour of the ones that really put us in awe.
Popup Play – One of the more annoying aspects of watching a movie on your device is when you get a message and you have to pause the movie to go check it. Samsung software offers what they call popup play. Which is just like StickIt! from MBFG. You can hit a button on the screen and toss the video in a smaller window that you can move around your screen so you read and reply to messages or whatever else you may need to do. All without interrupting your movie.
Eye Tracking – There is nothing more annoying than reading an email, or blog post and your screen goes black. Changing the screen time out is one option, or touching your screen every so often is another option as well. Both of those are extremely annoying. With the Galaxy S III, the front facing camera will track that your eyes are open and that you are looking at the device and keep the screen on for you. if you fall asleep while reading, which does happen, then the screen will turn off for you. That is pretty damn cool.
S-Voice –  Of course voice recognition is a big deal with our device. Some times it works sometimes it doesn’t. You pick up your device and move it to your ear and the device recognized that motion and is ready for your voice commands. Simply say ‘Hello Galaxy’ to get started and then ask it for what ever you want. The voice software recognized 8 different languages from around the globe. Heck, even the British guy could make it work the first time.
NFC and S-Buddy – Samsung took the idea of NFC and sharing capabilities to the next level. Using the NFC chip and WiFi direct the phone will instantly recognize and bond with another S III that it comes in contact with.
Camera Software – Similar to the HTC One series, the S III has zero shutter lag and allows for face recognition, best shot and more. Tap on the screen while trying to take a picture of friends and families and it will instantly zoom in on the faces.
Photo Sharing – The S III will attempt to recognize people in your photos and link that photo to their social profiles you are signed into on your device. Making tagging and sharing photos with your friends a breeze. You have to tag the person once manually, and then the device will match them for you in the future.
Just a few things we picked up on during the live stream. Of course they only touched on these aspects briefly so we will be combing their site for more details and other bits of information to share with you guys. We will also be on the look out for any and all hands on videos and the live stream video when it goes live so everyone that missed it can get a chance to watch it too.
For now though, what do you guys think? Do you love or hate the design? Was the S III everything you thought it would be, or did it fall short?
