Theme Park makes its way to Android from EA

Hot on the heals of Atari announcing Roller Coaster Tycoon for Android, EA releases Theme Park. TP is similar to RCT in some ways since you are in charge of running your very own theme park, but is still a totally different experience. You will be building roller coasters, various ride, attractions, and shops to keep your theme park goers entertained and paying out some cash to help fund you next ride. You will partake in various quests to unlock new rides and shops along the way. You will also have the ability to buy Super Tickets to speed up construction, boost profits and earn new rides faster.

I just installed it to get a look at how it plays out just a little. The game size comes in at 210MBs, so another big one to eat some free space. Be sure you are connected to good Wi-Fi connection before you go snag this one. The animations are very cartoony, but very crisp and clear. You start off with your adviser and he walks you through a few things to get you going. Always helpful to have a small tutorial in the beginning of a new game to help you get your bearings. It seems pretty interactive and time-consuming once you get started. There is a whole lot of tapping and clicking going on though. At least when money is flying out of rides and hitting the ground you don’t have to keep picking it up, it will automatically go to your bank. Making more money on the rides you have is pretty simple and I pulled in a quick $2,000 in just a few minutes.

This is definitely a freemium style game though. I haven’t played long enough yet to know if you will be able to progress and play without spending real money, so be prepared for that. There are various upgrade packages you can buy in the game like; a variety pack for $3.99, a sci-fi package for $6.99, 70 Super Tickets for &4.99 and plenty more others to spend some real hard-earned cash on. Play Store comments are giving it a 4.2 star rating right out of the gates, but quite a few people are complaining about ads popping up all the time. I only played around with it for about 15 minutes and never saw any ads pop up on me, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t there. Hopefully if they are over powering then EA tones it down a bit because the game seems like it will be a keeper.
