Three day battery on an Android device? Huawei Honor says “Yes we can!”

Over the weekend there were some leaked images of a new device from Huawei. We didn’t get a chance to share those with you, but we will. This morning Huawei officially announced the device via their website and I’ve gotta tell ya, I want one of these too.

The new device is slated to be called the Honor. This could easily be the Android device we have all been waiting for. Featuring 16M 16:9 true color high-definition on a 4″ FWVGA capacitive touch screen display, a 1.4 GHz processor, an 8-megapixel HDR -enabled camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera. To top it off, Huawei has also included Android 2.3.5 and a 1,900mAh battery. All packed into a 10.9 mm-thin body and weighing just 140g. This is sounding like a great competitor in the Android front. The Honor will also feature its own UI overlay, just like everyone else is doing. The device is also DLNA-certified for putting all your favorite games and movies to the big screen.

All of that sounds pretty darn sweet. To add some more fuel to the fire, Huawei has also made a very big claim. They are stating that the device will be capable of running for 3 days on a single charge. They aren’t talking about standby time either. They are talking about average usage on a daily basis. I will believe that when I see it. Even if this can only pull one day of usage, it will still be a great device.
”Huawei Honor encapsulates the Huawei brand – it features simple-to-use, advanced technology that allows people to share and connect easily. Honor provides a package of features that elevates the smart phone user experience, including an ultra-long battery life, so critical to the performance of smartphones but yet is often downplayed,” said Victor Xu, chief marketing officer of Huawei Device. “Consumers now have a high-performing smart phone that lets them communicate, connect, entertain and share content for an extended period of time without compromising on looks, technology or style.”
Don’t expect to see this device hitting the U.S. anytime soon though. It is currently scheduled to hit Asia-Pacific, China, Russia and the Middle East in Q4, 2011. They will see this device in the classic black color you see in the images. Huawei also plans to launch the device in other colors around the holiday season as well.
